At OneChild, we take a rights-based approach to the abolition of child sex slavery. We look at the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and help our young WorldShakers implement these articles in the fight against the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Article 12 of the CRC says children have the right to express themselves as it pertains to issues concerning them. Articles 34 and 37 are concerned with the sexual exploitation and cruel treatment of children, so naturally, kids should be involved in processes aiming to correct these horrible wrongs.
We know that young people have a tremendous power to change the world, and if they’re presented with the right tools and information, they will do just that. That’s why we act as a catalyst to mobilize an amazing but often overlooked force: youth. We know that young people need guidance and support, so OneChild looks toward parents, educators, and other adult supporters to forge a youth-adult partnership with the goal of eradicating child sex slavery.
